Ben Davies set for Grimsby return

Ben Davies is pushing for a return to action as Grimsby prepare for Accrington's Boxing Day visit in Sky Bet League Two.

The defender, who has not had featured in the first team since sustaining a calf injury in early October, was an unused substitute in Saturday's 1-0 loss at Doncaster.

Rhys Browne may not be available to manager Marcus Bignot after the forward was granted compassionate leave.

Dominic Vose is unlikely to be ready to return from a thigh problem and fellow midfielder Sean McAllister is in a similar situation as he recovers from a groin injury.

Sean McConville returns to the Accrington squad for the trip to Blundell Park.

The midfielder served a one-match ban following his sending-off against Leyton Orient two weeks ago.

Stanley have taken just one point from their last seven league games and are outside the relegation zone only on goal difference.

But manager John Coleman was impressed by his side's performance in a narrow loss to leaders Plymouth last weekend and could select the same side.
