John McDermott
Club legend having spent his whole career with the Mariners, despite offers to move for more money and to play at a higher level.

Has been the first choice left back at Blundell Park now for over 17 years and at the age of 38 is still as good as ever. A real 110% performer who is adored by the fans.

In 2000 he broke the league record apperance of 450, previously held by Keith Jobling, and has since gone onto break the 700 games barrier in all competitions.

Macca has experienced three promotions and three relegations since moving from his native Middlesbrough, this season will hopefully see his fourth promotion.

The skipper signed a new two-year contract in the summer after a move to Hull fell through.

Macca's main concern is his injury problems. After a decade of few knocks, the defender has missed large chunks of the season in recent years. His experience is been put to use on the training field where he could be a vital player in the development of youngster such as Danny North and Nick Heggarty.
