Danny for Grimsby!
Mixed feelings from Town fans I am sure but Danny qualifies for Cult Heroes. The young keen defender joined Town from the youth ranks back in 1997 and made around 150 apperances up until his transfer out in 2002.

Danny was hit and miss with the Town faithful , no one could ever judge him before a game because sometimes he would play his heart ouit and be awesome, the next week he may not look good enough to be a professional.

However he did pick up quite a bit especially in his last season for the club which was the 2001/2002 season. He kept Town in the game against Liverpool in the cup 3 years ago after clearing an Emile Heskey header of the line following a corner which avaded Broomes,Gallimore,Beharall and sailed past Coyne.

Danny who can also play anywhere in midfield rarely scored for Grimsby and netted 4 times in his stay at Blundell Park. When he left no one really expected him to move to a bigger club so it was a suprise when Crystal Palace snapped him up when his contract ran out.
Danny for Grimsby!

He was an instant hit playing either in defence or midfield at Selhurst Park where he easily settled into a regular in for Palace. When he was at Grimsby Danny was not bad at free kicks, he never became the regular free kick taker but he was not that bad, but he was awesome by the time he was wearing blue and red stripes instead of black and white.

Danny has netted 6 times in 3 years for Palace, the majority coming from free kicks. He was an active member of the Palace side which earned promotion to the Premiership and featured heavily as the most impressive player in the Play-Offs.

Sadly first team football for Butterfield has been limited this season after Iain Dowie decided to spend spend spend and loan loan loan foreign imports and Danny has only made around 10 apperances most of them coming from the bench. However if he can prove himself to Palace like he did when they were in Division 1 then he can surely be a sucess in the Premiership.
