Jim For Grimsby!
Scottish midfielder a very lively pulse in the Town side, very gutsy and clever. Dobbin started his career of playing for amateur side Whitburn BC in 1979. After a trial in 1980 he was signed by boyhood favorites Glasgow Celtic.

Dobbin was never a regular at Celtic and despite playing for the club for 4 years he made only 6 apperances and scored 1 goal for the club in the cup. Dobbin also made 2 apperances on loan at fellow Scottish Premiership side Motherwell before he completed a move to England with Doncaster Rovers for £25,000.

Dobbin had a good 2 year spell at Belle Vue and was a imperative part of the side. Barnsley signed Jim in the 86/87 season for £35,000 and he made around 150 apperances for The Tykes before ending his 5 year stay in 1991 when he moved to Grimsby Town for £200,000 in 1991.

Dobbin fitted in a gem in midfield alongside the likes of Childs and Shakespeare he could not faulter. Jim stayed a regular with Town up until he was released at the end of the 1995/1996 season and joined Rotherham United on a free transfer.

Dobbs played only 20 times for Rotherham and re-joined Doncaster for the 1997/1998 season, playing over 30 times for the club who ignited his career in England. In March Doncaster struggling miles behind the pack and rooted to the bottom of Division 3 released Jim and he signed up with Rovers rivals Scarborough.

Oddly Jim played 1 game for Scarborough and after only 1 week at the club he was shockingly re-signed by Grimsby Town boss Alan Buckley, who decided to add Dobbin back in as a squad player.

Dobbin played only twice for Town but stayed on the bucks until the end of the 1998/1999 season making 6 apperances in a total of 16 months at the club, he also spent a few months on loan at non-league Southport.

He was released from the club and signed part time terms with Unibond Premier League club Gainsborough Trinity, and he made his debut in a 1-1 friendly against Grimsby Town Reserves.

Dobbin played only a handful of games for Gainsborough before joining Trinitys worst rivals Boston United. Dobbin only made a few starts at Boston aswell before he decided to pack The Pilgrims in and join up with his third Unibond Premier League side in only a few months in the shape of Whitby Town where he in the end hung up his boots at the end of the 1999/2000 season.
