The left back is out of contract despite an offer of a new deal from Town, with Barnard prefering to look elsewhere for a new deal.

After signing Ronnie Bull last week, it is not known Russell Slade's plans with Barnard after holding talks two weeks ago with the former Barnsley man.

Barnard could now be set to join Iain Anderson in Scotland after the winger signed a deal with Dundee.

Barnard told The Scotsman he's keen on a move to Scotland whilst reminding them that he is afterall a Welsh international.

"I wouldn't be here if I wasn't serious about a move to Scotland," he said.

"Playing at Ibrox or Celtic Park in front of 50,000 certainly appeals.

"I am still in the Wales squad and the last two games I played were against Russia in the Euro 2004 play-offs."
