The Sunday People has reported that Ian Atkins has signed the 26-year-old midfielder, ending his four year tenure with Town.

Signed on a one-year loan back in 2000 by Lennie Lawrence from Leicester, Campbell impressed the Mariners faithful with his performances down the left wing.

The following summer Lawrence paid £200,000 for his services and Campbell signed a three-year contract.

Despite avoiding relegation in his first proper season with Town, successive relegations followed and Campbell's form struggled at times.

With Russell Slade arriving last month, he gave Campbell a take it or leave offer on his contract. One he left in favour of the move to the South West. With Rovers he'll link up with former Town team-mate Lee Thorpe.

Another player to sign for Rovers this week is former Town striker Jamie Forrester.
