The one time Town captain earlier in the week played down reports he had signed for the Pirates, stating he had only held talks.

Those talks it seems were very productive with Campbell today putting pen-to-paper with the Memorial Ground outfit.

Speaking the Rovers official site, Campbell revealed he turned down Town's offer for the Pirates. With Ian Atkins a major factor in the decision.

"My contract was up at Grimsby and they offered me a new one, but I just felt it was time to move on," Stuart told bristolrovers.co.uk, "I spoke to a few clubs, but as soon as I spoke to the manager here, Ian Atkins, his enthusiasm and how positive he was for the forthcoming season basically made my mind up for me.
"As soon as I knew Bristol Rovers were interested I realised what a big club they are and how much they’ve underachieved in the last few years. But the manager is very confident about the season ahead, and I’m very excited about it."
