Davo calls to end the mediocre performances

Town are fast approaching the half way point of the season, yet have failed to hit top gear and threaten to break into the top six.

Davo is in no doubts that Town are more than good enough to bounce back into Division One at the first time of asking, but is aware that time is running out to put a run together.

"At the moment we are floating on mediocrity," the veteran told the Grimsby Evening Telegraph.

"I don't think there's any secret formula. It's just perseverance on the training ground.

"We are potential play-off contenders. But at the moment I wouldn't want to be saying any more than that. It's not unreasonable to say we can do it.

"We've got enough around the dressing room to do that, but it's the form and the consistency. We're not a million miles away.

"We keep getting to within touching distance of the top and then we slip back again. That's what is so frustrating. We can see it, we can reach it, but we're just not getting there."
