Ford doubt for Wednesday clash

The youngster limped off after 43 minutes in the Chesterfield with a groin injury. The level of damage is not yet known but chances of a recovery in time for the Hillsborough game are slim.

"We are not sure how long he will be out," Paul Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph. "He has not torn the hamstring, he has just tweaked it, and we have to see how he responds to treatment over the next few days."

Should Ford declare himself fit, his place is no certainty after a composed 2nd half performance from Edwards. The former Hull man brought some much needed calm to the defence and would be unlucky to lose his place.

Midfielder Des Hamilton could return at the weekend, although after the debut of loanee Nick Daws could also struggle for a place.
