Ford limped out of the 2-0 win over Colchester with the strain, just 20 minutes after replacing broken nose victim Mike Edwards.

Manager Groves now fears he could be without the former Charlton trainee for a month.

"Simon has done his hamstring again and, though I'm guessing, I would think he'll be out for four weeks," Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph.

With Edwards also a doubt, Jason Crowe could continue at centre back for the Notts County game. Although Greg Young may get the nod due to his physical presence.

Fellow defender Tony Crane will miss the away trip to Rushden and Diamonds on November 1st after picking up his 5th yellow card of the season on Saturday.

Meanwhile rookie 'keeper Paul Fraser suffered a freak injury during Saturday's youth game with Bradford. The youngster landed in an awkward manner after collecting a cross in the second half. Fraser dislocated his elbow and wrist as well as suffering a break to the wrist.

The local lad is now facing a lengthy spell out of action.
