Grimsby Town 1-2 Blackburn Rovers

Familiar Face: Croft made first Grimsby apperance since leaving for Ewood Park.
The Mariners put on another good show this evening against Premiership side Blackburn Rovers. The boys went down 2-1, but looked just as good as they did on sunday. Mariners hero and current trialist Gary Croft, playing in his first game since leaving Town for Blackburn in 1996, supplied a decent cross for lanky centre back Rob Jones to score on 20 minutes after Blackburn failed to clear a corner.

5 minutes later Dominic Matteo headed in past Mildenhall to equalise, and on 29 minutes Jean-Paul Kamudimba was replaced by Terry Barwick after picking up a knock. Michael Reddy had a few chances to score, but Blackburn held there defence tight.

Rovers took the lead early on in the second half, Paul Dickov's pass falling place to a Matt Jansen strike that beat Mildenhall to put Blackburn 2-1 up. Town attacked once more but could not pull the game back.

Overall a decent pre-season. 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 loses.
