However with the two clubs still far apart on any terms, Woods admits he is still a long way off sealing the deal.
"Plymouth are saying that Damien is available at the right price. Their right price and our right price are not the same at the moment," Woods told Grimsby's official website.
"The terms that the agent is asking for is not right either, at this moment in time.
"There's a bit of work to be done there. Damien knows us and what we think of him. I'd love to have him available for Saturday, but there's a long way to go with that."
