Midfield headache for Groves

Anderson came through 75 minutes in the midweek reserve game with Scunthorpe. Whilst not back to his impressive self, the former Preston man made vital strides towards regaining fitness.

With Jason Crowe set to drop into defence, Groves does have an available slot in midfield but Anderson's lack of fitness may count against him as Graham Hockless also pushes for a starting slot.

Groves however seems to be favouring the return of Anderson.

"We'll have to wait and see. He's got through 75 minutes in the Reserves in midweek and his biggest problem has been blisters rather than his knee," Groves told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"If we want to change it in the midfield then we have Hocko and Anderson.

"We've missed Ando's goal threat. He scored three in four early on and he's a wide player that can take people on and who can deliver quality balls into the box.

"Of course you miss people like that. He's a big goal threat."
