Santos has returned to England after an unsuccessful search for a club in his native France.
Mariners boss Paul Groves said: "We've obviously played against him before and he's versatile and can play in one or two positions.
"He's a powerful lad, has played in the First Division and his credentials aren't bad. He's here to train and try and impress us."
