Slade all but calls off striker search

Slade was hoping to bring in a powerful frontman to spearhead his three pronged attack in time for Darlington on Saturday.

With the majority of his squad in place two weeks ago, Slade has worked day and night to bring the right man to Blundell Park. However his efforts have gone unrewarded with trialist after trialist not impressing enough for a contract.

With Michael Reddy unlikely to start against Darlington, Slade is presented with a number of options. The most obvious one is to play Darren Mansaram as the frontman, providing he signs a contract. Another is to play either David Soames or Graham Hockless in one of the wide berths with Ashley Sestanovich moving into the centre. The most radical choice could be to ditch 3-4-3 before it's even started and revert back to 4-4-2....somehow I can't see that one happening.
