In an interview with MarinersNet, Slade spoke of his admiration for Parkinson and admitted he has chased the wideman for nearly five weeks.

He also feels that Parkinson is too good for League Two!

Slade said: "Obviously we're delighted that we've got Andy Parkinson. We feel that we are bringing in a player that is above the level that we are at this season.
"He’s been at Sheffield United and Tranmere and he’s got great pedigree and a great turn of pace. He’s inventive and can score goals aswell. He needs to get his career back on path, and I’m just delighted that he’s decided that Grimsby is the place where he can do it. He wants to come here, he wants to play football – I think it is a great signing for the football club.
"He had a year left on his contract but that’s been negotiated.
"I’ve been after him for 4-5 weeks. We’ve grinded this one out and in the end we’ve got our man."
