Slade To Sort Out Contracts!

Russell Slade will attempt to convince some of the current players to stay this week as he heads back to the office. He wants to find out one way or another where Terrell Forbes, Justin Whittle, Jason Crowe, Stacy Coldicott and Anthony Williams intend to be next season.

Forbes has attracted intrest for higher league clubs, and Slade commented he may lose him in the summer as the club will no longer be able to compete with his wages. However Forbes will still be offered a deal. Justin Whittle and Jason Crowe have both been offered a 1 year extension to there current expired contract's, Crowe is weighing up his options, with bigger clubs tracking his progress, and veteran defender Whittle has yet to get back to Slade about next season. Stacy Coldicott has also said nothing about whether he will sign on for an 8th season following his move from West Bromwich Albion back in July 1998.

Anthony Williams is expected to turn down a contract after it was found out
Crowe: Undecided
that he would be dropped to the second choice keeper, in order for Slade to bring in a new Championship league keeper. Sunderland's Michael Ingham this week turned down Grimsby to move to his loanee club Wrexham. Youngster Rob Murray has been promoted from the youths to fill the gap for the third choice keeper, but Slade is unsure whether Williams will want to stay on as only a reserve.

Midfielders Terry Fleming and Thomas Pinault have both been released, and Graham Hockless has spoke to Slade, and told him that a move to the Australian Premer Division may be on the cards. Tony Crane, Michael Reddy, John McDermott, Andy Parkinson, Simon Ramsden, Rob Jones and new boy Gary Cohen are all signed on for next season.

Striker David Soames has been invited back too pre-season training and has been told he may get a last chance to prove himself with a 1 year deal. There has been no news on Ronnie Bull,Paul Ashton,Danny North,Nick Heggarty and Glen Downey, either way they are all out of contract.
