Mike Bassett
Mike Bassett, is he behind Grimsby's 5 straight defeat's??
You could be mistaken by thinking Chester City were playing a team full of comedic clowns last nightmanaged by television's Mike Bassett as Town lost 2-0 at Blundell Park.

Carlisle United centre back Simon Grand was a late addition to the squad after completing a loan move until the end of the season a few hours prior to kick off. However this and the debut of Nicky Rizzo did not refresh The Mariners infront of a failing crowd of just over 3,000.

The defence horror show continued, and strikers Martin Paterson and Gary Jones went another yes another game without finding the net, there was no sign of Isaiah Rankin or Michael Reddy on the bench, instead youngster Danny North was used, and as usual was in-effective.

If you can remember the tv series Mike Bassett Manager? well oddly this current form can only be matched by fictional side Wirrall County! Grimsby's player's and fans seem to have no confidence as they attempt to pull away from the nether regions of league two.

After the dismissal of Graham Rodger as manager, former boss Alan Buckley returned to restore some pride back to the club, and after a decent 5 games or so, Town have now lost 5 games back to back. The season is going from bad to worse, as concerns grow aswell for the assurance of the planning permission for the Conoco Stadium. What now for Grimsby Town!???
