Thordarson: Town are delaying Boulding talks

The Tykes manager is desperate to sign Boulding as he hopes to push the South Yorkshire outfit towards promotion.

Thordarson claims that Boulding too is keen on the move and it is only the delaying for Town chairman Peter Furneaux that is stopping the move going ahead. Despite this the Icelander is confident he'll have Boulding signed and ready for the weekends game against Notts County.

"The Michael Boulding saga is going on for longer than we thought and Grimsby are not helping the lad because they are delaying meetings," Thordarson told the Barnsley website.

"Any deal like this will always take time. I was hoping it could be sorted but the player will not be with us tomorrow. The Grimsby chairman should be fully aware of what contract his player signed and the clauses in that. The clause reads that if a club comes in with a bid of more than £45,000 he is free to go but I can fully understand that Grimsby don’t want to lose the player.

"There are other clubs looking at him as well but he has expressed that he wants to come to us and it is good for him from a football view. It doesn’t matter how the chairman feels the fact is he signed the contract with Boulding so he is free to leave if somebody will pay that amount of money.

"Grimsby are delaying things. The player has to meet with the Club and that was due to happen yesterday but they keep delaying it. We hope they will meet today. I think will be our player by the end of the week and playing for us against Notts County".
