Michael Appleton!
Grimsby Town Reserves will play Manchester United Reserves on the 19th of March at the home ground of non-league Hyde United(where the Red Devils play there Reserve games). United could field some of there first team players and expected to play should be the likes of Tim Howard,David Bellion,Phil Neville,Phillip Spector and Liam Miller among others.

Town will almost certainly play a few first teamers aswel. Paul Fraser,Greg Young,Tony Crane,Graham Hockless,David Soames,Nicky Heggarty and Danny North will almost certainly be involved in the game. Also Injured centre back Justin Whittle may feature if he is aiming a comeback around that time, but it looks as if Whittle will be back much sooner.

United have had a few ex-United players over the years. The two most recent are the unfortunate Michael Appleton who recently retired from injury. Appleton spent a month on loan at Blundell Park in the 1996/1997 season before he moved to Preston North End permanently. And the ever popular Terry Cooke who made quite a few apperances at Old Trafford before a move to rivals Manchester City. Cooke signed on a months loan from City in the fall of the 2001/2002 season and signed permanently the following season. After a brief spell at Sheffield Wednesday last term we have found it hard to track him down.
Terry Cooke

The game will prove little intrest to the Man Utd fans or club, but to the Mariners seconds it will prove a mental and physical task.

Lets hope we have a fairly good turn out where it could be an intresting and refreshing encounter. Especially for a reserves game!
