Introducing........The Seasiders

Steve McMahon is slowly turning his team into a strong second division side. The former Liverpool man guided the West coasters to mid-table last season after the previous seasons LDV victory and Division 3 play-off success the season before.

This season promotion is the aim, something that McMahon feels his squad is capable off. The summer singings of Manchester United full back Kirk Hilton, Bolton's Leam Richardson, veteran defender Steve Davis (Burnley), Barnsley forward Mike Sheron, Huddersfield defender Gareth Evans and Stockport 'keeper Lee Jones are part of McMahon's plan of mixing youth with experience.

The loan signings of Neil Danns and Jonathan Douglas from Blackpool are further signs that McMahon has no qualms in taking advantage of the number of Premier League clubs in their local proximity.

This season the Seasiders have found themselves in midtable, currently just above Town, but with three wins on the bounce go into Tuesday's game in fine form. Included in those three games is the League Cup scalp of Birmingham.

Team News

Defender Gareth Evans will miss out after he was stretchered off with a calf injury during Saturday's win over Notts County.

Fellow defender Tommy Jaszczun is also missing with an ankle problem.

The experienced Mike Flynn is still a few weeks away from a first team return.

Leam Richardson will be competing for a place after returning from his ankle injury.

Win Odds - 11/10

Marcel Cas is facing at least a fortnight on the sidelines with gashed legs suffered in a collision with Sheffield Wednesday 'keeper Eric Nixon on Saturday.

Graham Hockless will come in for Cas with Stuart Campbell going over to the right wing.

Phil Jevons will be on the bench again after ending his contract wrangle.

Simon Ford is still struggling with his calf meaning Mike Edwards continues.

Remember Me - Paul Robinson

Classy midfielder who matches tough tackling with silky skills.

The former Manchester United youth product has attracted much praise since his move to Bloomfield Road in 2000.

Yet another player who failed to break through at Old Trafford yet found success elsewhere.

Has been subject to speculation linking him with a move away.

The 23-year-old was sent off in the opening day hammering at QPR and has hit the net once since returning from suspension.

Hard for Town fans to forget Robinson after he destroyed Town just a few weeks ago. Yes the same man who wasn't good enough for Town, said Paul Groves.

Robinson spent the back end of last season with Blackpool with the Seasiders after his release from Wimbledon before moving onto Hartlepool.

Groves is in fact the biggest link between the two clubs, having spent two seasons with Blackpool before moving to the Town in 1992. Groves actually scored both goals that knocked Town out the FA Cup in 1991.
