Introuducing..........The Diamonds

Max Griggs. Rushden Town. Irthlingborough Diamonds. Blah Blah Blah, rise through the lower leagues. Yadda Yadda Yadda, you know the story.

Cut to current day - after promotion from the third division under Brian Talbot's leadership the Diamonds are sitting just a point below the Mariners. Talbot moved to strenghen his squad in the summer with the Bosman signing of Crewe striker Rodney Jack (more on him further down).

This week owner, Griggs, announced he is to leave the club. How the club will cope without his millions remains to be seen.

Team News

Jamaican striker Onandi Lowe is to return to the squad after a long term layoff with a hamstring injury.

Lowe is only likely to get a place on the bench though. Paul Kitson is set to start after signing a one-month contract following a short spell playing for free.

'Keeper Billy Turley remains on the sideline with a thigh injury. Paul Evans continues between the sticks.

Win Odds - 6/5

Greg Young should replaced the suspended Tony Crane in defence, despite picking up a knock midweek.

Jason Crowe will replaced Darren Barnard at leftback. The Welsh international suffered a bruised foot at former club Barnsley, last weekend.

Phil Jevons' goalscoring exploits for the reserves won't be enough to earn a starting place, the bench awaits.

Win Odds - 9/5

Likely Teams
Formation: 4-4-2 Evans, Bignot, Underwood, Hunter, Edwards, Bell, Burgess, Dempster, Hall, Kitson, Jack. Formation: 4-4-2 Davison, McDermott, Crowe, Edwards, Young, Cas, Anderson, Campbell, Hamilton, Boulding, Onuora.
Top Scorers
Onandi Lowe (7)
Michael Boulding (9)

Built like a brick outside toilet, Jamaican Lowe's scoring record is just a bit impressive since arriving on these shores.

Originally on loan with Port Vale, Lowe made his name with the Diamonds, again in a loan move from Kansas, before a permanent transfer.

This season Lowe has continued to terrorise second division defences, much like he did in the third divison.

His seven goals have come from just eight games, before his hamstring injury took effect

No goals for Boulding last week, it should have been at least two!

The forward threatend to run riot on the Tykes defence but never got going despite the room he was given.

He and strike partner Iffy Onuora missed chances galore at Oakwell and were almost made to pay late on, thanks Gally.

11 goals remain for Boulding's set target of at least 20 this season, will he continue his march towards it at Nene Park? Here's hoping so.
