Town Reserves 1 Boston Reserves 3

With Phil Jevons on first team duty, Paul Huckett stepped into the strikers berth to partner Darren Mansaram.

Alan Pouton was given another run out in midfield.  Paul Groves gave himself yet another game (groan) ahead of the very unfortunate Ash Hildred.  Simon Ford played at left back, whilst Greg Young was in central defence, eh?!?

Boston, without a game last weekend, fielded a strong team that included former Town reserves Ben Chapman and Stevie Croudson plus first team regulars Mark Greaves, Paul Ellender, Simon Weatherstone, Simon Rusk and Peter Duffield.

The Pilgrims drew first blood on 12 minutes.  Rookie 'keeper Bradley Hughes came for a cross but never looked like collecting leaving the Boston attacker to head home.

Half an hour in and Darren Mansaram, who earlier wasted a host of decent chances,  took advantage of Huckett's determination to beat Croudson.

Town failed to build on their eqauliser though with only Hockless looking likely to create an opening of any sort.

Not long after Boston regained their lead.  Hughes came to clear, hesitated and then missed altogether.  Open goal for the attacker, easy goal. 2-1.

The third came after 15 minutes of the second half.  Groves held the ball near his own goal but took too long allowing the Boston player to run in and disposses the 'gaffer' with a thunderbolt effort that left Hughes with no chance.

Alan Pouton was replaced by Hildred after 75 minutes.  The likeable Geordie appears to be very close to a first team return, one wouldn't be suprised to see Pouton in the squad for the Wrexham game a week on Saturday.  How badly a player of his ilk is needed in the current climate.

Town: Hughes, Hyams, Ford, Young, Wheeler, Pouton, Hockless, Bolder, Groves, Huckett, Mansaram.
