Peterborough 0 Town 0

Suspension to Darren Barnard and injury to John McDermott, who strangely was named as a sub, meant that Greg Young and Marcel Cas occupied the fullback slots.

Peterborough named right winger Adam Newton amongst the subs, a major blunder by Barry Fry. Especially seeing how the former West Ham youngster skinned Town in the previous two games this season. Then again with Barnard suspended....

The Posh started the game the much better, the wind was behind them and they intended to take advantage of it. Alan Pouton was needed early on to head Mark Arber's effort off the goal-line.

David Farrell proved to be the home sides main threat, although his shooting needed some explaining with several efforts that were a bit errm, well crap.

Town didn't bother much with that attacking lark, far too fancy. Although Greg Young's early rampage down the left wing, followed by a neat cross, deserved better.

In all the first half was poo-poo. Peterborough hoofed it long, Crane or Edwards headed it back. Occasionaly the wings were used but Cas and Young dealt with any threat easily.

The rare occasions Town did break forward it consisted of either Pouton or Hamilton spraying a long (hopeful) pass forward for Boulding. It doesn't matter if it's near him. He'll get it, he used to play for Villa, remember.

The second half was much better, but it was still dreadful. Town had the wind and despite having much more of the play, did bugger all with it really.

Onuora produced his best 20 minutes in a Town shirt by making himself a nuisance or for the Posh defence. Off the two strikers he looked the more lively and was clearly fresher having only played 17 minutes against Oldham.

Town peppered Mark Tyler's goal with corners but the repeated showing of Crane and Onuora getting in each others way was a bit boring after the ninth time.

Referee Andy Penn decided that elbowing players fully in the face is fair, as long as the victim is about to go through on goal. Michael Boulding found out the hard way at the hands of Arber. We got a throw-in from it though, wooo.

A long pass from Hamilton brought Town's only real chance. Boulding managed to lose Arber before heading towards Tyler. A weak shot followed and Tyler easily stopped it, a golden chance not taken.

Peterborough finished the stronger, when was the last time we finished a game on top? Farrell almost won it when he won possession from a knackered Pouton, skipped past two but then fired high and wide from 20 yards.

Town introduced Simon Ford and Darren Mansaram for Young and Onuora. Neither had chance to make a massive impact. Flash looked busy but infuriated the 900 or so Town fans when winning possession from nothing in the corner, beating his man and then daisy cutting his cross to the laughing defender in front of him.

A crap game, a crap point (if we're honest) and no amount of bulls**t can detract from the fact - either we go on a bloody good run NOW or we won't be going up.

Man of the Match - Greg Young. Very comfortable on the ball and never troubled once all game. Looked decent going forward too, a part of his game not yet shown. He'll be very unlucky to lose his place for the Wycombe game, but it's more than likely he will.
